Cleaning Up Ninja Gaiden 2

img_ninja_gaiden2.jpg

Since I'm not a ninja, I had no idea there were any issues going on with Ninja Gaiden 2, but apparently, there are a couple bugs in the game and some "achievement weirdness" with the Mission Mode pack. Microsoft has reposted a fixed Mission Mode pack onto the Marketplace, but it seems they're going to need a little more time to "figure out the freezing issue."

Anyone who downloaded the pack when it was released, and didn't unlock any achievements should be fine with the new fix, but those who had trouble achieving achievements, they suggest clearing the cache, which supposedly helped some gamers. Or you could try recovering your gamertag, which removes the first update and allows the fixed one to be downloaded.

It's nice that having our consoles connected to the interwebs now allows developers to fix bugs, but sometimes I have to wonder if they release games that probably could've stood to have a little more testing before hitting the shelves just because they know if anything comes up, they can just release an update.

The developers can't possibly win this discussion.

They will get flack for NOT FINISHED GAMING THINGS, no matter how much testing they do, when a patch is released it's basically [to the gaming community] an admittance of rape.

That applies to Consoles and PC's.

I would imagine they probably do as much testing as they did in previous generations, if not more, but the ability to patch games later if new faults are found is a mixed blessing for them, one one hand they're fixing them, on the other they're releasing updates when it should have been completely 100% finished etc.

But something that does seem bizarre, they release an update, but you have to remove the other update to update to the newer update of the old update?

Why make things simple when you can make it needlessly complicated.

I am always up for updates (such as the update for Burnout Paradise) as it keeps the game fresh months later. But no game should be released with a bug. I would always rather wait and have a finish product.

As a UK gamer I pay a massive premium on games (approx $60-70) and I don't want to be taking home something half arsed that will require an internet connection to correct mistakes that should have be ironed out before it was shipped.

Publishers and developers are releasing info about up and coming games WAY too early. They really need to wait until the final development stages to break the news so that for us the consumers the wait is not so great so should more time be needed to bug fix then they can. I believe that they do put too much pressure on themselves and quite often release something that needs fixing later.

(ps I am aware that the Burnout team have also added bug fixes and such to the current and up-and-coming updates so therefore was released too early, tut tut)

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
