Nyko's PS3 Hub

Do you wish that your PS3 had more USB ports? Did you buy a PS3 that doesn't have the media card reader? Well, Nyko might just have a solution for you with their soon-to-be-released Media Hub for the PlayStation 3. You just pop it into one of your available USB ports, and you're off and running. Now, while it gives you three more ports, you're losing one to plug it in, so technically, it only adds two. And while it says in the release that it "matches the color and contour of the system to expand its media capabilities while maintaining a clean form factor." Eh, not so much.
"We found that many of our customers who had purchased the popular 40 GB version of the PS3, which has less USB ports and no media card reader, were looking for an affordable solution to expand with these features," said Chris Arbogast, Director of Marketing at Nyko Technologies. "With the Media Hub, an additional three USB ports and a media card reader are now possible for all PS3 models, allowing consumers to enjoy the full capabilities of their multimedia system no matter which model they choose."
It's nice that Nyko has come up with a way to had some functionality back to the PS3s that Sony removed, but not having a PS3 myself, I'm not sure if this kind of a gadget is really necessary. I know I wouldn't buy something similar for my 360. Well, if you're interested in the Media Hub, it should be out in August for $19.99!

Nyko have been absolutely solid gold, from Wii guns that work, to wireless accessories people wanted in the first place, to media hubs, to coolers and so on, they're innovators.
They seem to have a monopoly on creative ideas, filling the niche of "What is wanted by people" instead of the usual "This is what people want" attitude of all the other manufacturers seem to employ.
This is a great idea, the bastardised 40gb PS3 was a silly choice in the first place, but anything to upgrade it's capabilities will be welcome, especially here in the UK where we've been buried nearly completely.
Now if they'd release a backwards compatible emulator accessory, we'd all be sorted.
Great idea for those that bought the 40gb model and wanted to play Rockband with all instruments.
It isn't necessary though, I've tested 3 PC USB hubs and they work fine.
