PS3 2.40 Firmware Temporarily Taken Down
A note on the Playstation blog informs us that Ps3 firmware 2.40 has been removed temporarily due to some issues with the update.
We have temporarily taken Firmware v2.40 offline. We've received a limited number of calls from consumers experiencing an issue with installing the system software update on their PS3. While our consumer services department has seen a low volume of calls on this topic, we are committed to providing the PS3 community with XMB access features delivered in the v2.40 update. We are working diligently to isolate the problem for those few consumers and to identify a solution before we put the firmware back up.
So if you're trying to update and can't, this would be why! We'll be sure to let you know as soon as we hear about it being back up.

Well I'm glad their doing something about it and reacted fast. It's nice to know they're working on getting it fixed before it turned into something a lot bigger. The update was released sooner than expected wasn't it?

"The needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few", some great philosopher once said.
So why, oh why if there has been a low volume of calls have they taken down the update? I think someone is telling porky pies (lies), sounds more like it has affected more than just a few customers.
Tut tut Sony, up to your old tricks again.
