Rumor: Marvel Vs Capcom 3 In Development

At the San Diego Comic Con, IGN asked the President of Production at Marvel Studios Kevin Feige about the possibility of the beloved Marvel vs Capcom series ever seeing a revival. Instead of deflecting with a "We have many different plans for a lot of great upcoming games!" or "Have you seen this awesome but unrelated other Marvel thing?" Feige answered:
Yes. And maybe sooner than you think.
Well, that sounds pretty straight forward to me. IGN points out that Capcom is currently working on Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Cross Generation of Heroes, a title which will most likely never see a North American release. Rather than just waste those assets, it's possible Capcom could sign a new deal with the comic book company and turn the game into a new version of the (critically) popular 2-D brawler. Of course, one should consider the fact that Marvel properties aren't exactly cheap these days, and there are no shortage of other companies working on games for the company, so who knows what the various contracts allow them to do or not do.
So my hopes aren't completely dashed, I'm going to wait for official word and just assume that Mr. Feige either didn't understand the question in the hustle and bustle of Comicon or is referring to something completely different, like a more traditional Marvel fighting game. Let's just hope he didn't think IGN was requesting a sequel to Marvel Nemesis: Rise of the Imperfects. That would be inhuman.

If it's coming, make it 2-D sprite based, please. I'll even take reusing the same sprites, as long as it's not polygonal graphics. PLEASE, Capcom, don't make the same mistake with this that you made with Street Fighter 4...
FINALLY! Now I just hope Tron Bonne and her lovely little Servbot are still in the mix...
that's good news, I loved the games
New Morrigan sprites please. That is all I ask.
The more games with Zangief, the better. :)
