Rumor: Soul Calibur IV DLC Will Feature Darth Vader And Yoda On Same System

vadervsyoda.jpg

If you're a multi-system owner torn between the light and dark sides of Soul Calibur IV, your choice might not be quite as hard as you think. Although it was speculated since the time of the announcement, Namco has remained silent at the prospect of getting Darth Vader and Yoda on the same machine via downloadable content, probably wanting to keep the "exclusive" in exclusivity. Now a few screenshots and a video have surfaced, purporting to show the two characters in battle against each other on the Xbox 360 version of the game.

According to the the reports,

the Vader is supposedly going to be a download add-on, that may or may not be charged for, and this comes directly from Namco, not hacked from the disc or fan-hacked or any such sort of trickery. It is likely going to work in reverse for the PS3 version with Yoda, as well.

There's no word on how their source got this information and footage, although the person would have to have some pretty tight contacts at the developer to get this before the game is even officially out. Namco-Bandai is yet to confirm or deny anything, so stay tuned. In the meantime, just do whatever your midi-chlorians think is best, and check out the video after the break.

Damn!
Now I'm not going to be able to buy this game on release and oggle at Killik's naked body on the character customisation screen.

Question: Out of the two consoles, which one's controller is more suited for fighting games?

I can't get over how incongruous that picture looks.

To Nexus: The controller question is a matter of personal preference whether you want to play with a D-pad or analog stick. A lot of fighting game fans prefer using a D-pad since it's more precise for combos, in which case the PS3 controller is better. Personally, I like using the analog stick because it helps with moves that use a half-circle movement, and so I'd prefer the 360 controller. The PS3 controller has a fine analog stick, but I like the placement on the 360 controller better. It's a matter of personal preference.

Depends on whether you like stick or d-pad for your fighting games. If you like d-pad, it's probably gotta be PS3 because the 360's d-pad is craptastic at hitting and holding the diagonals. Maybe it would be a better d-pad for, like, doing a hadoken or something, if this were Street Fighter. If you like stick, 360 might have an advantage because the left stick is on the top, but they're mostly the same as far as I'm considered (and the 360 controller makes my hands hurt).

Agreed. The PS v. 360 controller issue is a matter of simple preference. I'm crap with Playstation controllers, so I much prefer to play SC4 on my 360. Regarding the downloadable content, I'd figured something like this was going to happen. It just wouldn't make sense not to have the fated battle between the dark and light jedi avalible at some point.

Can't. Wait. Until. Tuesday.

I'm so happy! Now I get to play as Darth Vader on the 360! I really wanted Darth Vader, but I got 360 version because my friends on XBL were more important, but now I get the best of both worlds - yay!

Also, anyone who is thinking about getting this for the X360, you might consider buying a Hori Pad controller. The d-pad on that one is far superior to the regular xbox controllers. I used it for DOA4 and was so happy that I was finally able to stop screwing up my moves. The trigger buttons are unresponsive though, but you can always buttom map around that.

Let me think... Ah, here it is!

DUH! XD It was painfully obvious to me from the outset that they were going to bring both characters to the opposite system. They'd be stupid not to, truth be told. It was different in the days of the PS2/Xbox/Gamepurse, but in this brave new world of downloadable content, everyone's clamoring to make their game less a single game and more a platform. Therefore, by offering Yoda to PS3ers and Vader to 360ers, Namco-Bandai has their foot in the proverbial DLC door, ready to swoop in and accept our waving fistfuls of money in exchange for a Kratos here or an Arbiter there...

They wont say if its going to cost money or not to download the other character.

It's very likely going to cost money.
What was the point of not installing both characters on the disk then?
