The Lowdown On The Baddies Of Mega Man 9

The worth of any Mega Man is weighted directly in the quality of the evil robot masters produced by Dr. Wily. I mean, really, Centaur Man? Dust Man?
As news regarding Keiji Inafune's planned retro throwback Mega Man 9 started hitting the web, gamers wondered where the great ship Mega would be steering. Oil Man, Subprime Mortgage Man and Fair-Trade Coffee Man would be far too relevant for todays aging gamers, so it is good to see Capcom and company maintain a certain amount of levity in their robot enemies without being overly silly.
- Galaxy Man
- Plug Man
- Hornet Man
- Jewel Man
- Magma Man
- Concrete Man
- Tornado Man
- Splash Woman
Yes, you read that right: Splash Woman. How positively progressive, Inafune.

Um...they kinda already made Oil Man. He was added to the MM1 roster in the remake for PSP, MegaMan: Powered Up.
And c'mon, Dust Man and Centaur Man were great characters! The Dust Crusher was one of the best weapons in MM4, with the way it could split in 4 directions. And Centaur Flash was...um... well, it was kinda pretty...
I was hoping for more than 8-bit graphics, to be honest. If this were a DS game with Zero quality graphics, I'd be excited.
Someone needs to take out subprime mortgage man asap. :(
I too was hoping for more than a "retro throwback". I've been waiting years for a new mega man game, and hopefully something to tie in the Mega Man and Mega Man X series together.
It's sad to say, that while this is a neat idea, I'm expecting to be unfulfilled. Capcom just doesn't tickle my buttons since it failed on me with MMX5. :(
meh! I was hoping for iPhone Man
Again, I have to vouch for Dust Man and Centaur Man. Love the zaniness. Also, there's a guy who made a Mega Man Robot Master name generator. Funny results:

As a fan of the Mega Man series, games 1-8 and Mega Man X 1-4 (the rest suck), I don't know how I feel about this.
Mega Man 1-6 ranged from ok to excellent. However, I think Mega Man 7, being a decent game not excellent, got it right with the mechanics.
I don't want to be reminded that 20 years have past every time I play the game.
Also, I'm all for nostalgia, but couldn't we at least have 16bit sprites? I am by no means a graphics snob, but if you noticed the older Mega Man games were very bland. The screen shots show this as well. I'd like to think we've moved on a tad as gamers due to advances in technology.
I'm not asking for ridiculous things like voice acting, video cutscenes, or 3D graphics. I was just expecting something at least on par with Mega Man 7, preferably an evolution of Mega Man 8 (instead of a spin off like Rockman and Forte).
That's my rant. I'll keep an eye out for the game, but Capcom has really soured me on the Mega Man Series the past 10 years.
I totally agree with Akamaru. This is just a bit underwhelming looking. The thing about the first 6 games (which I all loved) was that if you saw screen shots from them, you wouldn't be able to tell which game it was. I really think Mega Man 8 was my favorite of them all with the sleek looking sprites. It wasn't like it was some sort of 3D fresh looking graphics, but just some nice sprites. This, on the other hand, is just bland looking in today's day and age and some kid with Adobe Flash and a sprite map could probably make this game.....
Also, Plug Man?! Does anyone get a certain image when you think about that.....?
