Bionic Commando On The VC? Computer Says No.
With the impending release of Bionic Commando Rearmed, we are left to ponder. Why has Capcom not released the original title on the Virtual Console? Perplexing, considering how well known and high profile the title is (now anyway).
In a recent interview with 1UP, producer Ben Judd regales his story of intrigue as being the first Capcom Japan producer to be western born, how his new titles came to being and etc. Lots of good stuff that is slightly outside the scope of this article (but still well worth a read).
Well, are we going to see a Virtual Console release? Ben says no. "We couldn't get it approved for the Virtual Console, I can't say why". Apparently this had nothing to do with Hitler's face exploding. Something tells me it's more due to the fact that it's Hitler than him exploding honestly. Obviously Nintendo is less concerned with gore (see: No More Heroes) in this day and age. Since countries like Germany have strong laws to prevent titles like this, and the whole Nazi thing in general is a bit of a hot button issue. Why rock the boat, eh?
