Colour Cross Paints Its Way By Numbers To A DS Near You Somebody

Ever since I was wee (or wee-ish) Papa Tiny and I have enjoyed the wonderful, logical, pretty puzzles known as "Paint By Numbers" in the pages of Games magazine. So when Picross came out for the DS last year, I immediately went gaga.

The puzzles were smaller than those I was used to, but not by much, and the clean, flexible interface made the whole affair a pleasure to conduct. It was the only game I played in the hotel room at TGS 07!

So Colour Cross makes me doubly happy - it takes the core mechanic of Picross and tweaks it with...guess... color! I mean, colour!

As yet announced only for PAL territories, Rising Star Games' griddy, colourized version of a treasured style of gameplay and wraps it up with 150 unique puzzles. PAL folks will see it this November - give us a North American release too!

RISING STAR GAMES FILLS YOUR NINTENDO DSTM WITH COLOUR
Colour Cross set to be part of a two pronged assault on casual DS owners.
August 11th 2008 - Rising Star Games will be unleashing a double assault on casual Nintendo DS owners this autumn with Colour Cross backing up the previously announced Cradle of Rome. Both titles will be released on the same day in early November 2008 and available in all PAL territories.

Colour Cross is a unique puzzle game where the goal is to uncover the hidden picture by applying the right colour to the appropriate square. Utilising the familiar paint by numbers mechanic, completing a grid will reveal a portion of a larger hidden image as well as unlocking increasingly difficult challenges. With over 150 individual grids to unlock, Colour Cross provides hours of brain-teasing gameplay which is colourful in more ways than one.

Yen Hau, product marketing assistant: "Both these titles represent a different part of the casual gaming spectrum, with Colour Cross a brain teasing game requiring thought and puzzle solving skills. On the other hand, Cradle of Rome is a highly addictive, fast-paced casual game ideal for those pick-up-and-play moments. These titles are also the first non-Japanese developed projects Rising Star Games will publish and represent an opportunity to expand our catalogue to encompass all types of gamers."

Ya know I saw that initial picture, read "Cross Colour", and had a flashback to 1993 and some really questionable fashions I might have been caught in. Ah, the 90's.

That said, Picross was awesome and I'd definitely be all over this.

This is an easy buy for me. I loved Picross to death. I'm hoping that they release this at a budget price. It'll make the importing all that much easier.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
