Confirmed: Waste Of A 360 D-Pad Getting Redesign Treatment
I swear, the Xbox 360 controller's d-pad was designed by Satan himself, created as some unholy vessel for the Antichrist like some plastic Mia Farrow from Rosemary's baby. I'm sure anyone who has played Bionic Command: Rearmed (awesome!) or Pac-Man: Championship Edition (also awesome!) will agree with me on this one. It's been days since I've started either title and my thumb is STILL red and sore.
No, I'm not going overboard with this one, but who cares, Microsoft is fixing it! Thankfully, in a recent interview with Eurogamer, Microsoft mentioned a new controller they've developed which should at least alleviate some of my sore-finger woes.
The new limited-edition green wireless controller offers enhancements to d-Pad functionality, which will add to the experience of playing games where the d-Pad is the primary control mechanismWe're always looking to improve products and we made these changes based on feedback from gamers.
The sad thing is that this is a limited edition Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 tie-in controller designed for only "Europe, Asia and Latin America while supplies last". That means I'm going to have to import this little bugger before they are all gone. Yes, they are also that putrid green color. The release is set for October 24th.

Fugly-ish color be damned, I need this controller in my life! We should all pray that Microsoft realizes that there are peole out there that hate the current d-pad and they bring this stateside.

I've been wanting a another controller for my 360 ever since it's release. Maybe this is one to watch out for.

This is great. I hope there is a big difference. Too bad I cant just use the PS3 controller on every system.
I don't get it. My boyfriend and I have had an XBOX 360 a whole of two days, and I haven't touched the D-Pad but once just now.
Is it the fact that it's an obnoxious rocking-style, one-piece, D-Pad? I thought I was in D-Pad heaven when I got my PSX and all the buttons were separtated. The Nintendo "cross" wasn't so bad either.

also, the bit about the sanding is not required, as I didn't bother, and mine works infinitely better.
@stellar: Play bionic commando for a couple hours and tell me what's wrong with it. xD
it's mushy, and it has so much travel to get the pad to respond I get friction burns.
