Lego Batman: The Cartoon?

Like a whole lot of you, I'm eagerly awaiting the release of Lego Batman. Like Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones before it, Travelers Tales has created an awesome new angle on some classic material. And apparently someone over there thought that the wacky Lego humor would translate well onto TV, because it would seem that a US studio is putting together a Lego Batman cartoon, using the actual game engine. It's just a one-off for now, but who knows maybe it will do well enough to inspire an entire series!
"We're looking to do... a Lego Batman series. I think they're looking at doing a one-off initially," said Traveller's Tales producer Rich Earl. "And they're basically able to utilise the assets, because our team has brought Lego characters to life. My understanding is that they will use the engine, the Maya files where the characters come to life, but they'll be creating animated... I think it's a 20-minute cartoon. I'm personally quite intrigued to see how it comes out. Lego, every time they've had a new brand out, they've done some CGI stuff as well, but I think this will be quite different."
Personally, the silent cut scenes with their humorous slant on the classic moments from the Star Wars and Indiana Jones flicks are the best part of the games, so I can only imagine that a cartoon in the same vein would be just as amusing. On the other hand, a silent TV series could prove a hard sell...
