New Conan Film Ties Into Age Of Conan; Update And Expansion Details

While no names on either side of the lens have been attached to the new Conan film yet, Lionsgate has writers and $100 million working on what the studio is calling "a fast-tracked movie."
What's more, Age of Conan fans will be pleased to know that the film will tie in directly with Funcom's recent MMO. Funcom's Erling Ellingsen spoke up earlier today at the Leipzig Games Convention:
"The movie is set for release next year, and it's going to be a huge movie. Lionsgate recently announced that they're putting a hundred million dollars into it,"
"We have a very close relationship with the guys making the movie," Ellingsen continued. "I had lunch with the producer just the other day. We're talking to them all the time.""Yes, we will tie the two together."
Ellingsen also detailed forthcoming AOC update details, which include two new zones, "new and revamped" dungeons, and of course: DirectX 10 support.
There's also a teaser image coming tomorrow that will pull back the curtain on Funcom's first expansion to the game. Eurogamer describes it thus:
The concept art shows three ninja-like warriors wearing green masks with a strongly oriental look. In the background are green banners decorated with dragons, and pagoda-like buildings.
All in all, a big day for AOC fans. And for those of you who might have given up on the game earlier in its lifecycle, give it another chance! There's a lot to enjoy, and Funcom keeps incrementally improving the game on virtually all fronts - including bringing more content to the back end of the game.

I was very excited about the game at first. I actually managed to snag a copy a day or so before official release, but then my computer appeared unable to cope with the system requirements.
I got a new computer a few weeks later (not just for the game, it was just long overdue) and the game played briliantly, but for some reason I quickly lost interest in progressing.
I'm currently wrapping up a playthrough of Fable so I can get it out of the way before the sequel comes out and then I'm going to return to Conan and try to keep at it.
Though I'll want to try out Warhammer Online as well and I'll certainly return to WoW for a bit with WotLK.
And then there's Spore and Fallout 3 and Fable 2 and... Aaaargh!
A Conan movie without Arnold will be like a day without sunshine.
