Nintendo Enters The World Series

Okay, well, no, not exactly. But in preparation for the August 25 launch of Mario Super Suggers on the Wii, Nintendo is promoting the heck out of the game by previewing it at the 2008 Cal Ripken World Series, a baseball tournament for 11- and 12-year-olds from around the world that takes place August 8-16 at the Ripken Academy in Aberdeen, MD.
Throughout the series, players and fans can sample Mario Super Sluggers on kiosks placed in the park's batting cages. Anyone who samples the game will then be entered into a drawing to win a free copy of it! And for the kids actually playing in the series, if any of them hit the special Nintendo banner on the outfield wall, they win a copy of the game automatically! During the semi-final game on August 15, one fan will be awarded a Wii console and a copy of the game, and Nintendo will be giving a copy of Mario Super Sluggers to each member of the team that takes home the Cal Ripken World Series championship. Phew! That's a lot of giveaways!
Don't live in Maryland or have no interest in watching kids play baseball just so you can get your hands on Mario Super Sluggers a little early? Well, if you live in New York City or the surrounding area, why not join me on Sunday, August 24 for the game's launch party at the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Center?

Yay, finally a reason for me to go see the IronBirds, Aberdeen's little league team. Though from what I read, Mario Sluggers is not much better than Mario Strikers was over the GC version.
