Nintendo's MotionPlus Isn't Exclusive

Interestingly, it would seem that the MotionPlus accessory that InvenSense has developed for the Wii isn't exclusive to Nintendo. Joe Virginia, VP of wireless business and corporate communications, claims other companies are interested in the technology, but won't drop any names.
"Of course we're incredibly pleased - delighted would probably be a better adjective - that Nintendo approached us... but it's not an exclusive relationship," said Virginia. "I can't get into details about other folks that are interested in this technology, but as you might imagine of course there is more interest out there."
Personally, I'm a little cheesed off that Nintendo is going to make me buy an accessory to get the Wiimote do what it's always been supposed to do in the first place. So if Sony or Microsoft got their sweaty little hands on this to either upgrade the PS3's Sixaxis controller or make some new motion controller for the 360, I'm gonna be so annoyed...
MotionPlus Tech Not Exclusive To Nintendo [Gamesindustry.biz]

You sound surprised that Nintendo would sell something that's not quite finished, then later release an upgrade/add-on to make it do what it's supposed to.
They're not making you buy anything. *shrug*
We could either wait until the next generation Wii, have to buy completely new controllers or get a $5 peripheral. Not sure what the alternatives are...
Its not much different than any other games out there that require certain peripherals.
Oh, you think the MotionPlus is only gonna be $5? Hahahahaha. This is Nintendo we're talking about, those things are gonna be $20 each, at minimum.
I feel like the Wii jumped the shark with the WiiMotion Plus addon.
Someone over at Nintendo had to have been thinking, "Won't consumers be confused by this addon?".
You sell someone a motion controller, then nearly 2 years later tell them the controller doesn't really sense motion absolutely and needs extra hardware to function the way consumers were lead to believe on day one.
Wiimotes, nunchucks, virtual console controllers, plastic protectors, SD cards, balance boards, and now WiiMotion Plus. Too many addons and not enough games/ functionality to justify buying all of them.
Two years later and the Wii is still just a dumping ground for ports with controller shaking added. Where are the motion controls? Even first party titles have been neglecting to make use of them lately.
