Quantum Of Collectors Edition

craigbond.jpg

So according to the James Bond website MI6, Activision is planning to release a collectors edition of the upcoming Bond videogame Quantum of Solace. The PS3 and Xbox 360 collectors editions are listed on Amazon for $69.99, although there are as yet no details of what extras are included for the $10 you're paying over the regular game's retail price.

Now, while I'm not likely to pick up a collectors edition of Quantum of Solace (unless it comes with some kind of yummy Daniel Craig photo book or something), I have been known to pick up special editions in the past. Just the other day, I was admiring my Lunar and Lunar 2 collectors boxes for the PlayStation. Miniature hardcover art books, cloth maps, soundtrack CDs, and even a pendant! Now that's how you make a collector's edition. But lately, there haven't really been any games that I'm that interested in getting a special edition of. Well, the Fable II extras that Pixel Poet told us about sounded worthwhile, but that's mostly because it includes free DLC with extra dungeons and weapons.

So what do you guys think? Special editions vs. regular editions. And... FIGHT!

It really depends on the game, and what the extras are. I got the collector's edition of Bioshock because the Big Daddy statue is made of awesome, but here lately I've not gotten many others.
Now that it's down to $20 I might get the PS3 collector's edition of Stranglehold, if only for the BluRay of "Hard Boiled". Now there is an extra that's worth it!

I'm picking up the Fallout 3 CE, can't wait to get my mitts on that bobble head and lunchbox

I wonder if there's still some collector edition of past games still available right now, like Bioshock or something...

A quantum of Solace collector edition? never! Only if it involves Daniel Craig of course!
Or else, i'll settle for any collector edition that comes with a doll or household item (looking at you Fable 2 and Fallout ;) ) but that also means more money spend in one game and none for the other... If only the collector's extras comes on the side...

i actually have purchased a few for the 360. i would probably be the exception here becuase i get them discounted from work. still, the game has to be one i want anyway, and the bonus stuff will more than likely also be made of things i think are worth having. t-shirts definitely not being one of them becuase you never have the choice of size. i will say that they are kind of a rip-off though. remember when things of that nature used to be handed out for free just for preordering games in the past. save for the halo helmet, and the GoW lancer. really i don't see why a mcdonalds figurine can add ten bucks to the price. i haven't seen one behind the scenes dvd that was ever worth watching, let alone paying for. like i said, if i get them at all, i take into account my discount on the actual purchase. for example, there was nothing i wanted in soul calibur IV, but due to bizarre glitch in the system it was less expensive to get that version. i haven't really figured out what accessories are even exclusive.

I can no longer buy CE after buying Lost Planet. That edition had nothing especial about it.

I'm not big on collector's editions, in fact I've never gotten one before. When it comes to video games, I pretty much only want the game. I don't really care about figurines or comic books or whatever :P And when CEs do come with something I'm interested in, such as extra levels or DLC, I get annoyed because I don't want to have to pay that extra ten - twenty dollars

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
