River City Ransom Online? Kunio-Kun Gets Internets
My unabashed love for all things River City Ransom. In my opinion, it was really the last brawler that I fell in love with. Was it the oddly disproportionate heads? Watching a little orange sprite scrub his naked back in a sauna? I'll never tell. Sadly, it would seem that in recent history the developers of this title have been trapped in the world of competitive dodgeball. Those were bleak times.
As it turns out, they've finally pulled it together and entered the beta phase with a new Kunio-Kun title, this time online. The game is being produced for Hangame, which many of you will be most familiar with their most recent work with square Concerto Gate. The Korean based game portal specializes in free to play, micro transaction ready software. This means that you can smash the face in of irritating "1337 sp33k" kids with a discarded tire for the low, low cost of zero dollars.
There is no word on a US release, but considering that Hangame has never been big on locking out foreign players, it shouldn't be much of a stretch to jump online with their over-sea's servers. They are also pretty good at localizing these things. Ultimately, it's going to happen for me one way or another.
