Ulala Gets All Up In Samba De Amigo's Business (And The Full SDA Track List!)

ulalasamba.jpg

When I heard that other Sega characters would be making special appearances in the new Wii version of Samba De Amigo, I prayed for a cameo by Ulala. The Space Channel 5 vixen has always been a personal favorite of mine. Well, it looks as if Sega heard my silent prayers and has blessed us with the lovely lady which you can see in the screenshot above. Not only that, but they have released the entire set list and there are some great new songs including Groove is in the Heart (Dee-Lite), Low Rider (War) and Jump in the Line (Harry Belafonte... come on, you know... the song at the end of Betelgeuse...).

It looks like Sega is really trying to give this the game the chance that it wasn't afforded on the Dreamcast. The new songs really fit the spirit and mood of the game. I never thought I would see Low Rider and Groove is in the Heart in the same game! I'm still undecided if seeing Ms. Ulala perform Mexican Flyer once again is totally awesome, a terrible tease for a sequel I'll never see, or both.

Now we just need a full-fledged Space Channel 5 for the Wii!

On a side note, I was hoping that I would NEVER, EVER have to hear "Mambo No. 5" EVER AGAIN IN MY LIFE. Hopefully the game won't make you play every song in order to progress... or else my mute button will be getting some use.

i really think Ulala deserves a new game at this point. perhaps they can expand on what boogie tried to accomplish on the wii. i think space channel 5 would be pefect for that kind of thing, but i doubt they could coax apollo smile out of retirement, lol. if they do decide to do it, leave michael jackson out it, PLEASE! i love the new track lists, magelehna, i love that song. i am kind of suprised that they got dee-light okied the use of grove is in heart considering lady k actually attemped to sue sega for using her likeness and what have you for space channel 5.

i am debating on whether or not i need to wait for the launch of the maraca bundle. you can see the image over at kotaku. designed to work with to wiimotes. they are different in appearance, does it designate a right and left maraca? also, according to the sega website, there will be more songs downloadable at launch. i certainly hope they are actually downloads and not unlockable songs a la the original, but we shall see.

I must say, that I am disappointed to have lost the old Sega tune tracks that I have on Samba 2000. music from OutRun, Sonic CD/Adventure, Burning Rangers, those were the real reasons for me to bust out my DC and Maracas controllers. (yes, I have 2 pair.)

I suppose this will be a fine addition in the end, but I would have liked to see some more classic Sega in the set list. (perhaps the main Space Channel 5 theme, since Ulala is making a cameo. . . .)
