Video: Mushroom Men Rise Of The Fungi
Ever since La Brute and I saw the very beginnings of Mushroom Men: Rise of the Fungi for the DS and its Wii partner, Mushroom Men: The Spore Wars back at EIEIO 2007, we've both been carrying a bit of a torch for this pair of B-movie inspired lilliputian fungus games.
And this delightfully self-referential video captures a lot of the Penny Dreadful charm that first hooked our interest in Mushroom Men. The graphics look a mite better than Insecticide, which was also a Gamecock-published DS game, and the gameplay looks pretty robust.
Admittedly, the DS game and its media do tend to make me want to play the Wii game more than anything, but I'm interested to see how these two games overlap - with Rise of the Fungi telling the Mushroom Men's origin story and The Spore Wars capturing the tale of the civil war that follows.
