I cannot wait for this to come out.
All you blowhards who say it's just an F-Zero rip-off—two words: graphic design. Yes, the concepts are the same. The battles are the same, for the most part. But the original Wipeout was art-directed by the Designer's Republic, and the studio has stuck with it. A killer techno soundtrack, super-streamlined graphics. Wipeout 2097 introduced (for better or worse) the American gamer to Red Bull via in-game ads. I, personally, am not a fan of in-game advertising (though it is inevitable), but the synergy that Red Bull had with 2097 cannot be denied.
I wait patiently at the 1080p Wipeout altar.

For the WipeOut series, the design aesthetic + the soundtrack creates an experience unparalleled by anything that has come before or after it. There have been many attempts to duplicate it but all pale in comparison to the original TDR WipeOut games.
After Fusion (which was bad but not an abomination), Pure offered a much needed series reboot. I have to say that I am a but disappointed by Pulse (more like Pure and a half) and the one-sidedness of the dlc but HOPEFULLY HD will not suffer from the same fate. WipeOut HD is going to make me SOOOOO happy. Can't wait to have the tourny parties at my place. :)
