Wootini's Weekly Wii Fit Update #12

wootiniwiifit12.jpg

Well, aside from that spike at the end there (that's what I get for giving into my craving for fried chicken...), I'm now safely below 165 and unlikely to be told I'm overweight by the Wii Fit Balance Board anymore. Thank goodness. For a week, I was on the cusp, and every morning feared weighing myself in case I bumped up over the edge of "normal." And I also reached a total of 40 hours playing time, which turned my piggy bank that tallies your time gold. Yay! It went from copper to silver to gold, so I doubt there's anything after that, but maybe when you hit 50, it turns platinum or something. I think I'd prefer polka dots.

Since I'm planning on next week being my final entry, I figured I'd better suck it up and do the Free Step, which was the only exercise I hadn't at least tried. I mean, there's plenty that I've only done once, particularly some of the Balance Games. But since the actual step exercises are barely good for a warm-up, I didn't expect Free Step to be much better. And it wasn't. It was actually kind of rubbish. It's better than nothing, but the jogging is much more of a workout. You actually break a sweat. Not with Free Step. You can speed up the tempo, as well as alter the sound effect, but you can't actually get it to a pace where you might feel like you're burning that many calories. Also, because the Balance Board is the step, it's not even effective on your butt because you're not stepping up that high. And while there are on-screen prompts to tell you how you're doing or suggest that you switch the leg you're leading with, I'm not really sure why, since it starts off by urging you to change the channel and watch TV while you step. And it's actually more difficult to maintain the pace with the beat coming out of the Wiimote speaker if you do watch TV because if there's any music at all in the program you're likely to get distracted. I much prefer running.

So that's all I've got for you next week. Look for my final wrap-up report next week summarizing my whole experience with Wii Fit over these past months!

Congrats on keeping the weight off. You've lost 20 lbs since you started using Wii Fit.

Are you doing additional things besides Wii Fit and running? Are you doing additional ab exercises on your spare time? Have you visited a doctor or a nutritionist to get an accurate mass body fat analysis done? How have your cholesterol and blood pressure changed since you started using Wii Fit?
