360 Sales Double Thanks To Price Cut

Microsoft's decision to slash Xbox 360 prices across the board has been a resounding success, especially regarding bragging rights about the Arcade Bundle's $199 sub-Wii price point, which must irk the Dickens out of Nintendo.
The repricing has affected Xbox 360 sales, of course: sales of all SKUs have doubled. A 100% increase in demand signals nice weather for Microsoft, something that must soothe the wounds of such a unilateral price reduction. In fact, Microsoft reports that certain 360 SKUs actually saw a 600% increase from the previous weekend, although numbers and details weren't provided.
The new pocket-friendly pricing places the Premium model at a cool $299 and the Elite at $399, and of course the Arcade at $199.
It'll be interesting to see if the upcoming price cuts for the 360 in Japan have a similar effect or if the Japanese market's insensitivity to the Xbox 360 will persist.
Xbox 360 Sales Double After Price Cut [Gamasutra]

From what I hear, sales of the Xbox 360 have gone up in Japan, largely because of the release of Tales of Vesperia. I imagine the sales numbers are still low compared to the Wii and probably even the PS3, but things are looking good for the time being.
I'm thinking of buying a new Arcade system for myself to replace the HMDI-less Pro system I have now. Keep my current hard drive, sell the Pro system, and for what would probably be a small cost to me, I'd have a whole new console with HDMI. The price drop makes this a feasible option for me.
Nobody bought one that weekend, the world knew a massive slash was imminent.
600% improvement on (roughly) Zero sold equals Zero!
Real Actual Figures please, not spin.
I already am forced to pay Micro$oft for buggy operating systems and office productivity software. No way in Hell am I buying buggy hardware from them, even if the price drops to $99 (or even $0). DS, PC, and Wii for me!
