Bioshock's "Over Ten Minute" Install
As many developers have been quick to say, making a hard drive mandatory on any console is extremely liberating when it comes to access times and decompressing assets. Unfortunately, this also has the added side effect that the PS3's hard drive is becoming somewhat of a wasteland of software installations. After Metal Gear Solid 4, Grand Theft Auto 4, Assassin's Creed, Devil May Cry 4, and possibly even more titles the average adopter is left with mere scraps of space remaining. That and I'm generally an impatient person when it comes to playing video games.
Now, you can add Bioshock to the list of install offenders. 2K Games stated in an interview with Eurogamer than the game will feature a 5GB footprint install that will take just over 10 minutes to load on your your disk drive, a rather impressive chunk of space considering console owners could have as little as 20GB of total space on their machines. Time to start deleting those old installs to make room for this one.
