Chrono Trigger DS Extras

chrono_trigger.jpg

Well thanks to someone translating the the Japanese Toys 'R Us website, the masses have received a more info on the extra content that will becoming with the DS remake of the game. The first comes in the form of the WiFi Monster Battling system that will be added to the game:

You can breed about 50 different monsters, and that the strongest monsters that fight in the arena can win rare items. You can also use the DS' wireless system to challenge your friends' monsters. You have the "train" the monsters to get them stronger, and as they get stronger their appearances will change as well.

Sounds like a Pokemon/Monster Rancher type minigame being built to allow dueling. If the success of Pokemon and its many clones are an indication, I'm sure this feature will be a giant hit in Japan. Along with the monster battling info also comes more information on some new dungeons that will be found in the remake of them game:

Dimensional Distortion
A mysterious dungeon suddenly appears. Travel through time to overcome the challenges, and reach the depths to claim a hidden power. Clearing the different parts of the dungeon will affect the End of Time in some way.

Dragon's Sanctuary
In the last leg of the story, new gates to prehistoric times and the middle ages suddenly appear. Within the dungeon, one will have to complete various requests to continue. The quests gradually increase in difficulty, and you may have to go to a different era in order to continue. Help the reptites to reach the innermost parts of the dungeon. What could be waiting there...?

Dungeons that evolve and shift as you get further into the game sounds like a great idea; however, if this is increasing the number of endings for the game, I'm scared. I remember how man extra weeks of my time that game took up trying to see all the varied endings you could achieve running the Game+ mode and finishing the game after key events in the game have happened. This will only add more complexity onto it, but I guess that's a good thing for most players.

Well there are two treats to help keep you guys salivating for game that's slated to launch around Thanksgiving time, Nov 25th.

Oh good god. I can't wait for this. I've been thinking about replaying this, but perhaps I'll just wait until the rerelease. The new content will hopefully give this game a nice bump in challenge it was missing, not to mention new endings :). Now if they'd only announce one last thing I really wanna hear... New Techs.... OOOOOHH new techs. CMOOONN

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
