EA Terminates Tiberium

Well, Command & Conquer 3: Deluxe Edition is now in stores, but it would now seem that EA's FPS set in the C&C universe, Tiberium, will never enjoy the same fate.
"The game was not on track to meet the high quality standards set by the team and by the EA Games Label," says EA spokesperson Mariam Sughayer in an official statement to Gamasutra, commenting that "...there were fundamental problems with the design of the game that the team struggled to correct."
Apparently, EA Los Angeles has been subject to some scrutiny regarding the quality of their productions, and the studio is being evaluated. Further delaying Tiberium was not an option for EA, as the game had already been delayed until 2010. (Yikes!) They're also not admitting how much money they sunk into this particular black hole, but I imagine it would be quite a bit. It's too bad EA's going to have to eat that investment, but at the same time, I applaud them for attempting to maintain a level of quality that some studios don't even bother worrying about. It must have been pretty heinous indeed...
