Final Fantasy XIII Demo, How Much Would You Pay?

I will defend SquareEnix's habit of porting/rereleasing past games 47 times in an effort to earn extra money that I naively think is poured into making their next masterpiece. Their latest moneymaking scheme may be taken things a bit far. Designer Tetsuya Nomura was quoted in an interview with Japan's Dengeki Playstation magazine saying that the demo of Final Fantasy XIII (which is set to be included as part of Advent Children's Blu-ray release package) might also be available separately, for a price.
Sure the demo is 90 minutes long, but exactly how much will SquareEnix charge for this mini-morsel of Final Fantasy XIII? I'm going to set my limit at around ten dollars, but it'd better include some making of videos, or interviews, or a release date for the actual game.

Doctor, Doctor, Doctor...
It's a demo! It's an advert! Are we charged for watching adverts? Of course not. The advert is there to push the product on us so that we pay to own and play it. Do we get charged every time an advert comes on the radio, or every time we see a billboard. No no no. So why should we pay to play a demo, regardless of how long it is.
Thankfully, I'm not a fan of the series, otherwise I'd be more miffed at a move to charge for a demo; Square Enix are, in my eyes, putting 'demon' into demonstration (see what I did there) and it sucks rhino willies.
That is all.
Love you.
The Mast... erm.
LorD
LorD is 1003% correct, it's a complete joke that they've even implies they may charge for it.
If I was Square-Enix, I'd spend less time thinking up new ways to fleece consumers and more time making a quality RPG, something they've forgotten how too since FF8.
If people will pay, like they did for Prologue, a demo, then more fool them, if you're willing to pay, you deserve to be fleeced.
Considering you're getting 90 minutes of a top-notch (hopefully) game, I don't think the idea of charging a nominal fee (assuming it's nominal) is terribly out of the question. Luckily I'm getting it for "free" with the Advent Children blu-ray, so no complaints from me. :)
If I wasn't a fan I'd be more pissed. They've got a cult going on and I drank the kool-aid.
This brings up a point I made in my Ratchet review, how much content must be included in order to consider something worthy of our cash. Some might say Quest for Booty was a really deep demo, or GTA Prologue is a glorified demo.
I'm with Spaz on picking up the Advent Children blu-ray. I actually enjoyed the movie. See! CULT!
The way out of this pickle for Square? Charge $10 for the separate demo, but include a coupon for $10 off the full game when it comes out. Even more insidious would be some deal where you get the demo when you pre-order the full game with a $10 deposit.
I drank the Kool-Aid too. I'd totally do it.
They may be charging for the demo possibly cause the 360 will miss out on the bundle up with the A.C. Blu-ray release, so they'll be able to get some extra bucks from the willing to pay curious gamers. But true, I would not pay more than 10 bucks for the demo either.
*cool-aid smile*
CHARGE? FOR A DEMO? Thanks, but that'll be a no.

Hmmm...how much would I pay for a demo of FFXIII...how about nothing?
1.) It's a SAMPLE. You don't pay for samples.
2.) This series jumped the shark 2 games ago (3 if you count X2, which I try not to even think about.)
I'd prefer a Qore download for it on PS3 if anything. It's a very long demo though...
I think I will be getting the Advent Children BR, then at least I wont feel like I'm getting fleeced.
This demo blu-ray disc is meant to be the incentive of purchasing their Advent Children's Blu-ray movie. I think it's fair for SE to charge the manufacturing cost and S/H fee to people who only want the demo.
Hmm having to pay for a demo? probly not the best idea square enix has ever had! And tbh the hole Final Fantasy franchise has gone downhill since it became square enix! the last good final fantasy game was 10 and that was the last one Squaresoft ever made! Lets hope square enix can get it back up to squaresoft standerd!!
And ime sure this long antisipated demo will show us just how good this games gonna be! ill be buying the FF7:ACC blu-ray, altho i alredy have it on DVD!
