GameStop's "Unique" Storage Grosses Out Germaphobics And Everyone Else

A video emerged on YouTube (and has since been promptly removed) showing some of the behind the scenes workings of a local GameStop and their system storage room. Why would this make any news? Because the storage room in question was in fact a bathroom. Yes, ew is the proper reaction.
Now, I'm not going to say that this is the best solution for the fact that GameStop stores have terribly cramped back rooms already, but as someone who was employed at one of their stores for a significant amount of time I thought I'd give some of my own experience and perspective. First of all, yes, my store did use our bathroom as a system storage room. But it's also important to note that we did not also use that room as a bathroom anymore. I should also mention that the bathroom was much larger than the actual storage room. The storage room was very narrow, and if systems with large boxes such as the PS3 or Xbox 360 were kept in the storage room, then there would be no room on the floor to actually walk. Having seen several other stores, I can say that this is not an uncommon occurrence. A store with a tiny storage room has two options. Option one is to keep systems out in the store behind the counter, where there is also no space and where they can be easily stolen. Or option two is to sacrifice the store's bathroom and turn it into a second storage room. If faced with the choice, a GameStop store will choose option two every time.
Of course, I realize that it's still a really gross thing to do. But having worked at a store with that same situation, I have a little sympathy because I know that there really isn't anything else to do. And if you don't like it, please don't take it out on the people working at your local GameStop, it's not their fault that the store has a crappy floor-plan that doesn't give enough storage space. But I'm sure their corporate masters would love to hear what you have to say.

Ha! How coincidental.
Friday, I was just at a Gamestop in the area where, when looking for an Xbox, one of the guys working there said to the other guy "They're on the shelf in the bathroom."
...-I- thought I heard him wrong.
I guess not...lol
I guess I don't see the fuss...were the systems crapped on or urinated on or something? That WOULD be gross, to be sure. People are just way too prissy, I guess.
This really isn't the locals falt as Navifairy said. Gamestop needs to start looking to put new stores in places with better storage areas The main part of the stores are cramped to hell as it is, I can only imagine how bad the back room is.
My former store also kept most used systems in the bathroom and locked up the new ones in the "system closet".
The Store was a converted Funcoland store and the back room and "system closet" were a joke. :)
This is too funny. The 2 Electronic Boutiques (Gamestop in Canada), they do the same thing. LOL
Funny enough I never minded knowing the system were right next to me when they let me use the bathroom.
I worked for GameStop for a couple of months.
And I can tell you, yes, they did store stuff in the bathroom.
In fact, our mini-fridge was next to the toliet.
Our display items and cases and more expensive product and whatnot were in the bathroom.
And our manager's desk/office was in the bathroom.
ALL.
AT THE SAME.
TIME.
