"Gaymers" Documentary Short Premiers On Current TV

A few months back, the charming Vasilis Siskos approached me about a project idea he had in mind. His wanted to make a documentary on gay gamers that would appear on Current TV. I did a few interviews with him and he came and filmed at one of our gay gamer gatherings. All of his hard work paid off in a short four minute piece that has already premiered on Current TV and is currently showing on Current.com. I'm looking into seeing when the piece will air again, but until then you can watch the video here. It's a nice look into the continuing problem of homophobia online and in gaming. It's well executed and the finished product is quite slick and professional. Why, I actually sound like I know what I'm talking about! I hope you enjoy it and congratulations to Vasilis on a job well done.

It's interesting how it goes into how the online space can be used for social good even when there are people who spread social evils.

One of my friends still questions why there is a need for a site like Gaygamer, since being online and anonymous should be a factor in actual need. But, it's sites like gaygamer who help create a movement towards a friendlier atmosphere for all types of gamers. Especially in the massive social spaces of Xbox Live, PSN and MMOs.

Hehe... I like your "Piggly wiggly" shirt...

Huh hum... back on topic
Anonymous activities is something i hate. And i'm a hypocrite for saying this but people can just get away with so many things and not get punished or even know they just harmed someone. Even though being a total stranger is the perfect way to be respected as equal, it still doesn't do anything for people to be tolerated. And when you do correct them, they'll just ignore it and keep on hatin' every day. The internet is a lot like the real world in a way...
But the worst is that some of these people don't know what their saying, they're not necessary homophobes! They're using words like "Fag" or "Fagot" thinking it's a way to humiliate someone of their masculinity but forgot it's an insult against an entire group of people! Since when did we become the lesser of a man! We're equals darn it!

That's why i like this site. We can proudly be how we want to be and not be hated for it. I just pray every day this site will become bigger so that people will at least notice it and acknowledge that we exist and be careful of what they say online.

Also, Good job on the publicity stunt! Guess we can expect more traffic in the following weeks

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone involved in this site. I hadn't really thought about it before watching this video, but this place does mean a lot to me. I've been coming here almost every day for well over a year now I guess, and I'd have to say gaygamer has become a virtual home to me in someways. I remember the attack on the site and how even as a reader, I felt like it had been a direct attack on me and all the other visitors of the site. But you guys responded swiftly and with a maturity that the attackers could never match, and I really respect that.

To sum this all up, I just wanted you guys to know I appreciate everything you're doing here. In this world still plagued with so much intolerance, I have been the little gay damsel in distress, and you guys are my knights in shining pink armor :-)

This is so awesome. I'm kind of disappointed I couldn't be a part of it.

Homophobia amongst gamers is rampant and seemingly uncontrollable but it brings a smile to my face that this sheds some light on the issue. :) Kudos to everyone involved.
