Inside The Guitar Hero World Tour Music Studio

Lucky Tracey John over at MTV Multiplayer got a special demo of the music studio feature of the soon-to-be-released Guitar Hero: World Tour. While it sounds fantastic, I don't think I have the musical and/or technical know-how to be able to pull anything together. Electroplankton is the only game I've been able to use to make music. Heck, even Garage Band gives me a headache!
The first section is Recording, where players can team up to play their song in the virtual studio. Just hit record, jam away, and you're done. Of course, all players must be in the same place recording can't be done online. Then the game basically transforms the song you've played into the various difficulty levels. After recording, you can mix your tune.
In Mixing, you can edit the various notes. They mention keyboard tracks, but as far as I'm aware, there's not actually a keyboard included in GHWT. Huh. Maybe they made a mistake. Keyboards certainly would help differentiate it from its competitors. Maybe the next iteration... Anyway, you can alter the tone of the instruments and clean up your recording by adding or removing notes. Oh, one thing: There's no vocals because of legal reasons. The best you can do is record a melody track and have the vocalist sing along to that.
Once your song is finished, it can be uploaded to "GHTunes" where it will be downloaded and rated by other gamers. To start with, you'll be allotted five slots, but if your songs are rated well by others, more slots will be added. The most anyone can have is 15, though. Downloaded songs are available in Quick Play, but won't be cross platform. Boo!
Activision will also be monitoring all the uploads (that's gonna be a helluva job for some poor team of guys) to make sure there's no copyright infringement. Original material only, gang! As I said at the beginning, I fear this is all way too much for me, but how about you guys? Anyone looking forward to being the next musical superstar? And how long before some indie label looks to make a name for themselves recruiting people off of their original GHTunes?
Hands-On With The 'Guitar Hero: World Tour' Music Studio [MTV Multiplayer]

the only reason i would even be remotely interested was to infringe on copyrights. i mean, i am no musician by any means, but i would probably spend some time diddling with it if i was allowed to create a track from Akira Yamaoka. it's not like a snowballs chance we would see it otherwise. i think they are just trying to cash in on the abilities of frets on fire, with obvious exception that they don't have those stipulations.
