Project PlayStation

To promote the heavily hyped release of LittleBigPlanet for the PlayStation 3, Sony is getting very creative. The latest event to be announced is a partnership with Parsons The New School For Design, the home base of the fabulously awesome Project Runway. (At least until they move it to LA and totally ruin the show) Students from the New York City school will participate in a 24-hour Game Jam. More than 120 students will attempt to create the most inventive and challenging levels for LittleBigPlanet within those 24 hours from September 21 to 22. The winning levels will be featured in a special Parsons section within LittleBigPlanet when it launches this October.
"We are thrilled to be partnering with some of the most imaginative talents in the world at Parsons The New School For Design," said Scott Rohde, vice president of Product Development, Worldwide Studios America. "The LittleBigPlanet Game Jam is the perfect way to showcase the original and innovative aspects of LittleBigPlanet as well as the exceptional design abilities of the students at Parsons."
The teams of five will be drawn from throughout the school, including students from technology, music, fashion, illustration and photography. So they should pretty much have all their bases covered. The judging will be done by a panel consisting of Media Molecule, the development team for LittleBigPlanet, various Parsons faculty, and members of the media. Wait, where are Michael Kors and Nina Garcia? Please tell me that at least Tim Gunn will be on hand to offer advice to the prospective game designers! Make it work, people! Make it work!
