Q? Entertainment Bringing Lumines Supernova To PSN

Q? Entertainment is trying to prove that it's an equal-opportunity lover when it comes to downloadable games. Q? has already proven its love for Microsoft's service with the bevy of games available for download, but has been strangely slow to put anything out on PSN, despite the company getting its start with the PSP hit, Lumines. Well, it looks like Mizuguchi is bringing some love back to Sony with the announcement that he will be bringing the newest incarnation of Lumines to PSN, dubbed Lumines Supernova.
Supernova will have all the features that made past versions such a hit, like Endless, Skin-Edit Mode, Time Attack, and Puzzle/Mission mode, but there will be some new additions to make the PSN version stand out. There's a new game type called Dig-Down Mode where the play field will already be filled with blocks, and it's your job to clear them all. Most notably though is the new Sequencer Mode, where you get to create your own background music that can be used in the game! So now even if you don't find music you like in the 40 skins included in the game, you can create your own tracks to puzzle your way through.
Here's the full features set:
- Skins, skins and more new skins: Enjoy unlimited gameplay and unlock up to 40 stylish skins in Challenge Mode, including brand new skins
- All-new Dig Down Mode: Using the falling blocks, erase squares from a playfield already filled with blocks as you dig down to the bottom. Show off your digging skills as your completion time is ranked based on clearing 20 consecutive stages
- All-new Sequencer Mode: Create your own background music using the sound loops provided in the "Sound Bank" - drums, bass, synthesizer 1, synthesizer 2 and effects each come with 20 different loops
- Skin Edit Mode: Customize your Lumines experience by creating your own playlist with your favorite skins
- Time Attack Mode: Test your skills and see how many blocks you can erase in a given amount of time and compete with your own record
- Puzzle / Mission Mode: Act quickly with the falling blocks to create shapes/designs and clear the playing field in just a few moves (100 puzzles and 50 missions)
I could not be more excited for this. Lumines is possibly one of my favorite games ever, and definitely my favorite puzzle game. The perfect mix of matching squares with a music beat just feels natural, and the game can easily sap hours from your life as you zone-out to its hypnotic rhythm. And now I can create my own music?
