Does That Fabulous Handbag Come With A DS?
Why, Yes It Does!

In its ongoing effort to sneak videogames into every facet of modern life, Nintendo has teamed with From Bags to Riches, an online handbag-rental service to include Nintendo DS systems and games with some of their rentals through the end of the year. Now, I was so distracted by the insanity of renting a handbag over the internets that it took me a minute or two to realize how equally bizarre it is to rent a Nintendo DS at the same time.
"In today's fashion world, carrying customized accessories means everything," said Kara Richter, CEO and founder of From Bags to Riches. "With the addition of the stylish Nintendo DS, Nintendo brings to fashion accessories what Prada brought to stylish messenger bags."
"Almost half the Nintendo DS systems sold in the United States last year belong to women," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "With From Bags to Riches, we can help the growing population of female gamers test drive some great Nintendo DS games - and look good while they're doing it."
Basically, you can rent yourself a designer handbag from names like Coach, Gucci, Juicy Couture, Louis Vuitton, Prada or Tory Burch, and then go ahead and select the fashionable color of DS you'd like (Metallic Silver, Metallic Rose, Onyx, Crimson/Black or Cobalt/Black make sure it matches!) and then choose from games like Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir, Brain Age, Nintendogs, New Super Mario Bros. or Mario Kart DS. (Props for including a couple Mario games along with the expected casual titles)
So for the ladies (or daring homersexuals) out there, the bags seem to go for $35 for a 30-day rental, which is actually not bad, and I guess it's cheaper than buying one when it's only going to go out of style after 30 days anyway. Throw in a free DS and game with the rental and it's not such a bad deal. I guess I can kind of understand the concept... even if I'll never try it myself!
