Rock Band 2 — No Juke For You!

jukebox.jpg

So I had been hearing about these free downloadable tracks that are supposed to be available for Rock Band 2, augmenting the 84 already included on the disc. There's 20 of them, and all you need is a special code to ge them. So where are they? Well, according to a Harmonix developer on the Rock Band Forums, "This content will be available later this fall. Stay tuned for news re: official release date for these tracks."

Well, Poo. I don't care if you do put out new tracks every week, and by the end of 2008 there will supposedly be over 500 songs released between Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and the various DLC. I want free now! Oh, and they also promise to release an exact list of the songs when they get closer to the date. I'll keep you posted.

In other Rock Band 2 news, I was digging around the menus looking for the option to import my RB1 songs, (yeah, I know, I forgot that it's an export from the original game... duh) I came to notice that I never saw any option to play the "Jukebox Mode" that was supposed to let you just listen to the tracks with the band playing as a kind of music video. Unfortunately, this same developer reveals, "This mode was removed from Rock Band 2 in the final stages of development." And even worse? "We have no immediate plans to bring this feature back to the platform in the future."

Huh. That's odd. I wonder if it was some kind of music rights issue? Because it seems like it should be pretty simple to execute. And if it was the final stages, it was probably pretty much done. It's too bad, because I was kind of looking forward to that feature. Still, it's not like it breaks the game. The only thing that could've made Rock Band 2 even more awesome is if they'd called it Rock Band 2: Electric Boogaloo. I still can't stop playing! Let me know if you're up for a jam session — I always am!

Their is an easy way to setup your own jukebox mode. Just turn on the 'No Fail' and 'Performance Mode' modifiers and there ya go. Jukebox mode.

Thanks for joining the band tonight Wootini! I was a bit tired, rusty, and my eyes were about to pop, but it was still good times.
Likewise, I am always down for Rock Band 2 so I will keep sending the invites if you wanna jam out again in the near future.
