Weekly Poll Results: What Is Your Gender?
The results are finally in! I have been waiting for our vote total to 2000 before I took this poll down and it finally happened. It's interesting to note that the "What is your Sexual Orientation" poll reached over 2000 in a week and it took this one nearly two and a half weeks to get those kinds of numbers. But, on to the results!
As it turns out 85% of those polled were male (1725) and 10% were female (218)! The remaining 5% was comprised of 4% MTF Transexuals (55) and 1% FTM Transexuals (25) and two people posted in the "other" category as intersexed or androgynous. It's very exciting to discover we have such a wide variety of readers of all genders. Thanks to everyone who participated and these results will go a long way to helping shape the future of GayGamer. Look for our next poll coming up shortly!

Ah, now you combine those 2 polls and get nice idea of who comes to your site. You should post it up here too. 'Cause i'm too lazy to do the math myself =P
I'm still a little cheezed at a lack of an 'other' category, or at least an alternative for the intersexed or those that don't identify with either extreme of the gender spectrum.
Actually C-Blay, there was an "other" category, but people were abusing it and not taking it seriously so I had to remove it.
Yeah, I posted back when 'other' was still an option.

How were people abusing it, and how did you know they were abusing it?
It's really shitty to just shut down someone's identity because someone else was being a dickhead.
Claire: People were abusing it by writing in things like "vampire" and "transformer". And I know they were abusing it because I was checking the answers regularly, being the creator of the poll. Out of more than 30 answers, only two were serious and my calls for people to answer honestly only resulted in more ridiculous answers. It had nothing to do with being "shitty." The option for "other" was present for at least a week and a half before it was taken down so if anyone had a serious answer to put in, they had plenty of time to do it. Sorry you feel it was a slight. We were being all inclusive by having it in the first place. Most outlets would have just put male and female and left it at that.

Anyway, I wasn't indicating that the quality of your will was shitty, just the quality of your action.
You say that the option for "other" was present for a week and a half, so they had their chance... but apparently they DIDN'T have their chance, since neither of the two you mentioned in your response to me were mentioned in the news post.
It would have been better altogether, I think, if you DID just put male and female, because then at least the exclusion could be attributed to a blind spot. As it stands, you made a conscious decision to disregard the identities of two of your visitors after they were nice enough to answer your poll in a serious way. Even worse, you still demand your fucking cookie for having accepted the possibility of their identities for a whole week and a half before removing the option.
Claire: Thank you for your observation. I have added the aforementioned two people into the article. I apologize for the oversight. When I wrote the article I was looking at a list of numbers where those particular answers had been excluded. And I think you misinterpreted my comment. I did not mean to imply that I deserved any sort of "cookie" for my efforts. I was merely stating that I thought I was trying to be as open as possible by including all possibilities. Sorry if it didn't come across that way.
