Xbox Price Drops Are Officially Made Official

blackfridaz.jpg

Well, thank God that's over with. Microsoft finally has put an end to months and months of speculation, rumors and nonsense by announcing that yes, Virginia, there is going to be a price drop on the Xbox 360 console. Starting on September 5, you can go right on out there and buy the regular one for $299, the Elite for $399, and the Arcade for just $199.

Microsoft makes a big deal in the press release about $199 being the magic price point to get the 360 into households across the country, but there's just one little catch. See, they go on and on about how you can enjoy your favorite games, movies and TV shows alongside your personal photos and music. Yeah, but um, they don't mention anywhere that the Arcade model doesn't come with a hard drive to store all that material. You want to take advantage of the Xbox LIVE video store to download your favorite movies and TV shows (or maybe the streaming Netflix service — not sure how that's going to work, exactly, but I imagine some storage space is required to buffor the video), you're gonna need yourself one of those extra hard drives, and that's gonna run you another $100 for the 20GB (or just go ahead and splurge for the 120GB for just another $50). Just FYI.

Microsoft Japan is already actually paying people to take the machines, with little success. "We hope more people will be able to enjoy Xbox 360," said marketing marketer Takashi Sensui, "and we can stop enjoying quite so many of them. We also have this fine pile of HD-DVD drives ... Wait! Come back!" http://notnews.today.com/?p=63

I actually think the Arcade is a great value for people like me. I have an Elite and have been wanting a system for my bedroom but couldn't make that chioce with such a high price tag. but now for 199.99 I'm heading over there today. I will just swap out my Elite 120GB HDD between the two. Also if at all you can still play every game (except for FF Online) right out of the box. Plenty of space with the 256Mb memory unit for any XBL Arcade game but you will have to delete the game if you want to buy other games. At least you game and go online and play multiplayer chat in voice and video. So the only things that you cant do is not really game related. Video downloads, HUGE game add-ons or Music rips. But to skip the nedd all together just stream all videos, music and photos right from your PC like I do. Even though I have an Elite I still don't like clogging up my HDD with videos, music or photos. Only game content.
199.99 ia also a waaaayyyyyy better deal than the Wii with little to no Online multi-play and no voice, video chats. Also the Wii only has 512Mb internal ram. LoL
Sorry for this long post just wanted to make a few points on value.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
