City Of Heroes Gives Mac Some Lovin'

COH_Mac_Flat.jpg

Poor Mac. Its gaming platform has just never been up to par with PCs as we have all lamented many times in the past. Fortunately there are people in the world like the TransGaming, Inc who have been working with NCSoft to bring their superhero MMO, City of Heroes to all you Mac gamers out there. According to the press release, the Mac version will go into an open public beta with the release of the game's newest expansion, , Issue 13: Power and Responsibility. Soon after, (pre-holiday 2008) the official version will release as a digital download for the NCSoft website or GameTree Online.

I was a big CoH/CoV player before I got sucked into the world of game journalism and I had to forego the pleasures of soul sucking MMOs for the pleasures of soul sucking console games (Fallout 3 anyone?). As an avid, long time Mac user, I'm excited to see something coming to the platform other than the regular "Timmy the Fish Does Math" games we usually get. Now I'll finally have something to suck all the bandwidth from the local coffee shop with while I'm playing instead of working.

I'll have you know, Mr. Brute, that it's actually Freddie Fish - which I take to mean that his last name is, indeed, Fish - and that his math-solving antics helped me to pass my contemporary math exam last week.

Now if you'll excuse me, Putt-Putt is going to help me with "Tale of Two Cities."

Dude, this isn't mac lovin, this is mac hating. How long has this game been available? I mean, I can understand why Halo takes forever to port, but MMOs should really be be Windows/Mac

Too bad this game died years ago.

Agreed, this game is too old to care about. Just like how they released Everquest for Mac years too late to care about it (when Shadowbane and World of Warcraft had already made simultaneous releases for both Mac and PC).

I remember being promised more Mac games when the switch to Intel processors came about. And some sort of commitment by EA (not that that means much). Nothing really has changed. Hardly any games make it over and I rely on my consoles for gaming more and more these days.

I disagree that the game is dead. There is still a pretty large playerbase, and free expansions are released about 3 times a year.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
