EA Criticized Over Tiberium Cancellation

Last week, EA canceled their Command & Conquer themed first-person shooter, Tiberium, citing worries about the quality.
The game was not on track to meet the high quality standards set by the team and by the EA Games Label," says EA spokesperson Mariam Sughayer in an official statement.
I'm a big Command & Conquer fan, so I was kind of disappointed to hear this. It would be fun to experience this world from a different perspective. EA is now coming under fire for the decision, however.
Continued lack of management execution and/or product quality, damages new management's credibility and dampens our excitement for the company's shares," says Hickey of Janco Partners.
I disagree.
Could Tiberium have made release, had it been managed better? Maybe. Management in game development can help a great deal. But I think it shows far more courage and fortitude from EA to decide to shut down a game rather than release mediocre shovelware that would harm a brand. That to me shows that their management is taking their responsibility seriously.

Christ, how bad could it have been?
It's obvious that no matter what EA do, the generic Joe public will just pan everything they ever release, heaven forbid someone would actually weigh games on individual merit.
EA are great, they've made money hand over fist for decades, despite everyone hating them, they are the smoking lobby for gaming.
EA's success proves how little hardcore gamers and reviewers opinions actually mean.
I'd bet that EA's financial "success" has a lot more to do with all of those sports games they keep re-releasing year after year.
Wow, it's like Starcraft: Ghost all over again ;)
