Fable 2's Dog, Almost Too Realistic

fable2dogcloseup.jpg

So I have to know if any of our readers have had the same experience with Fable 2 that I have.

Last night, when I popped the game in for the first time, there were some friends over at my place. With them, their dog. Simon. He's very friendly and just sort of hangs out. Or he did.

Until the dog showed up in-game. Suddenly, Simon perked up.

Yes, the dog in Fable 2 is so realistic in sound and movement, Simon thought it was a REAL DOG. That it was a new dog he'd never seen before, that was intruding on his turf. Eventually I had to move my game into another room with a closed door to calm him down. (at which point time skipped and it was suddenly 3AM somehow).

Has anyone else noticed this with their pets?

Not with Fable II, but with Lady and the Tramp. When it was on in our living room a good six or seven years ago, our dog Angel perked up when all of the dogs in the pound were howling, and then she sat roughly two feet in front of the TV with her ears up just watching the screen for about a minute or so. She has not done anything like it since then, but it was still pretty funny.

my dog Terra used to love watching Mario 64. occasionally a new game will perk her attention. (I have a great picture of her interested in Twilight Princess about 6 months ago)

Who cares? The dog is going to suffer a death by newbery medal anyways: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DeathByNewberyMedal

Yeah, our dogs both started whining and barking at the TV, too, while the better half was playing Fable II. They're finally asleep, but they sure were all perky for a while, there.

Hell yes! Actually, it's really addictive, you can't help but call out to him sometimes.. Out loud.

My cat also seems to perk up at the sight/sound of the dog and will stand up on her hind legs to see the TV better whilst staring at it, then turn back to look at me inquisitively.. It's.. different!

Ok. Totally crazy! I named my F2 dog...SIMON!

It's so real. I love running by the water and the dog is looking at the water. He runs ahead, sniffs something, then turns and waits for me. He rolls on his back. It's so crazy. My cat just stares at the TV when he barks. I love it! The AI is super crazy!

Yup, my dog, Jonah, comes over to me wagging his tail any time he hears my in-game dog, Beau, barking for treasure or dig spots. It's adorable!

My little dog tiger goes haywire when the dog barks and runs around the house looking for it. He also howls at the police sirens in Saint's row and GTA4. He's a teacup chihauhau, so its really hard for him to howl and so cute when he does it.

And girls who like girls who like rumble packs!
