Mirror's Edge A Trilogy? There'd Better Not Be Hobbits

While the first-person parkour-inspired game has yet to land on consoles, the team behind Mirror's Edge already has plans for a sequel. Xbox 360 Fanboy posted quotes from an interview with senior producer Owen O'Brien, in which the developer talks about future installments:
"The story we're telling at the moment is kind of a trilogy, a three-story arc," said O'Brien, "there's a lot of scope to take the story in different directions, or maybe tell someone else's story." Though, O'Brien makes it very clear that Mirror's Edge, this first installment, will solely focus on Faith and her "experiences in the world."
Can anyone name a game series that actually made it to the third entry in a planned trilogy? Xenosaga doesn't count since it was planned as a 5-part story that got chopped down to three. While I can't wait to pickup the game, I'd prefer if the story it told stays within the game and doesn't force me to wait for a sequel that might never come. Maybe Mirror's Edge 2 can star a spunky brunette guy looking leaping from building to building with good humor and a sense of style... I'm available for mo-capping.
