New Xbox Experience Dated!
Well, the speculation and waiting can end now that Microsoft has committed to a date. Well, technically, the waiting will still have to keep going, since there's about a month still to go. But you know what I mean. At the Tokyo Game Show, Microsoft revealed that its New Xbox Experience will launch on Wednesday, November 19.
There have been plenty of articles detailing what this new "Experience" will entail, so I'm not going to list them all again here. This is all about the date, so we can get excited for what is to come. Personally, I'm kind of looking forward to making my Avatar, since it looks like you'll have a lot more options for customization compared to the extremely limited Miis. I'm also intrigued by the new chat modes and community aspects, although I'm extremely wary of how the "new look" is going to appear when I try to force it to use my old Katamari theme instead of one of their fancy new ones. But most of all, I'm totally psyched to have the Netflix on-demand service. That's going to be all kinds of awesome.
Of course, I'm hoping that you'll be able to opt out of the download at first, because I don't want to have to tie up my Xbox all evening trying to download the update from servers I have no doubt will be taxed to their limits... But we'll see!

I'm personally still hoping you can opt out of the download completely. I simply don't like the new look and from what I played with on the preview website, I don't like how it functions either.
I dunno, seems there's a split opinion regarding Miis on 360 ..some people see right thru the scheme, while others are more easily led.
You could always try speaking to tech-support - point out that cute n cuddly Miis are diametrically opposite to what you were told that you were getting when you paid your cash for the hardware or the online community. At least, your complaint will be noted.
Won't make a difference though. The upgrade will be forced. Might as well start choosing clothes for your "on-screen avatar".
