PlayStation Network Store Update - 10/09/08
Are games art? The PSN store just may answer this very question with the release of Linger in Shadows, which from what I've gathered is a leaving work of art that players are encouraged to explore. For less than three dollars there isn't a reason not to check this out. If you're looking for a bit of action then jump behind the wheel of Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars and get ready for online gaming on the Unreal engine. Finally, while it has dominated the handhelds, the Puzzle Quest series is looking to conquer the PSN with Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords mixing RPG elements with good old fashion bejeweled-style puzzles. DLC for Mega Man 9 and free game content for Civilization Revolution makes this a full week for PS3 owners. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some bandwidth to use up.

Linger in Shadows looks amazing, and may well be art, but it's still a game. You get trophies, and proceed by 'exploring' the piece. I understand the makers want to dis-associate themselves from less experience-based games, but their label seems to me to be disingenuous, and more than a little pretentious.
Also the music seems out of place, very vanilla for such a kinky visual experience.
Watched Linger in Shadows a handful of times, got all the trophies, then sat back and really just let it wash over me...
I think my brain exploded.
For the Price of Linger in Shadows, it's perfect. It sucked me in somehow and I'm still glowing from the experience. I can see it as interactive art but it does feel like a game. I just wish I could understand what the art is trying to tell me....
Sega's V.P. demo is on the european store, so if you can register a european account (I used the HQ address for BBC Radio1), you can download it no problem.
Sucks they're limiting it here but giving it away over seas.
