PSP-3000: Interlaced For Life

Turns out that while the PSP-3000 has been a huge success in stores, it hasn't been so great in hand. Many users have been reporting that the screen has a unique "interlacing" problem. Odd line shearing and jagged edges have left many forum users perplexed. Sony's response? It's a "feature"!
On some occasions, scan lines may appear on scenes where brightness changes drastically, due to the hardware features of the new LCD device on PSP-3000. Installed with this new LCD device, PSP-3000 offers more natural and vibrant colors on its screen, but the scan lines have come out to be more visible as a result of improving response time to alleviate the afterimages on PSP-3000. Since this is due to hardware specification, there are no plans for a system software update concerning this issue.
Basically, what it comes down to is the LCD is refreshing only even or odd lines every frame, but not both. This is fine in instances where there is a great deal of detail, but once motion is introduced a unique comb pattern appears horizontally. Good thing that people are pointing this out so early, this allows me to demo a unit and decide if I'm willing to live with this new artifact. I'm a fan of the inky trails left on my PSP-1000 anyway.
PSP-3000 Screen Suffering From Terrible Interlacing and Jaggies [Gizmodo]

I love Sony. Even in life after Phil Harrison, they still pretend that their spin is fooling people.
If only this was posted yesterday. lol I've already got mine as of yesterday, its not to bad but I did notice it and I thought maybe it was just mine but, I guess not. All in all it's not terribly bad to where I regret getting the system.
Hmmm.
So where does that leave someone like me who doesn't yet own a PSP? I'm planning on getting one soon, so do I go for a 3000, or try to pick off one of the remaining 2000s???

My response to that is:

It's a "feature"? Are you kidding me man!? First the PS3 now this?
Well crap, now I don't know what to do. Get the new PSP with the better screen (but with the interlacing problem) or get a PSP-2000 while they're still available...
A really nice thing to see on the 3000 series as well that people should keep in mind was, the built in Microphone. I found that very awesome to have and saved me some money on having to buy the hole micro phone set up again. It also cut down on all the extra wires everywhere.
My last couple were mauled by my dog, :( he aims to chew them if I leave it idle for any period of time. lol
PSP 3000- introducing a better screen to better show off how much we don't care about your satisfaction.
ironic seeing that they just optimized it for downloading PS1 games directly.
their response is offensive. they must think we're no smarter than a plant- "Oh-- its looks worse because its a feature. well thats ok in that case!"
maybe in a future system update they will improve the renderer to only show black. black screen! we can hope.
