The Beatles Coming To Rock Band?

Word on the net today has been circulating a very big rumor about Rock Band. MTV and Apple Corps, (owners of Harmonix and owners to the rights for the Beatles music, respectively), are having a press conference tomorrow.
The media alert announcing tomorrow's press conference, to be held at 10:00am ET on Thursday, October 30th, simply reveals that Apple Corps and MTV will announce "an exclusive agreement to develop a global music project.
Does this mean Beatles tracks exclusively for Rock Band? We'll find out tomorrow morning, but this would be a pretty huge deal. There's enough Beatles material to make a separate game, for goodness sake. (controversial performance artist girlfriend accessory sold separately) Partly from the massive popularity of the Beatles, but also for who ISN'T involved in this press conference. Activision. Is Guitar Hero getting snubbed?

As a music student familiar with the countless court cases concerning unlicensed use of Beatles songs... and McCartney's unwillingness to licence any of the songs for use in adverts (and other such mediums) I kinda find this hard to believe.
A few years ago, if you asked permission to use a beatles track in ANYTHING, the answer would be a very short, sharp, NO. Regardless of the money it would earn him he seemed more concerned with retaining his artistic integrity.
Perhaps its because most of his recordings are coming out of copyright now, so to earn any MCPS royalties from them he either has to rerecord and rerelease them OR make a deal with someone like Harmonix.... so I guess it makes sense really.

I'd like to think that it's more along the lines that McCartney understands that his fans want to play their songs in a music game, and that he trusts the real musicians over at Harmonix over the skateboarders at Neversoft.
Of course, my cynical side suspects you might be right.
wow! how I wish i could play the game. well just want to spread the news about beatle's vinyl records on http://www.musicobsession.com/
