Video: Nintendo DSi Features
Man, now I really wish I'd held on to my DS Phat with its dim, scratched-up screen and weighty bulk. Sure, my crimson and black DS Lite is hot, but the new DSi is smexy! Here's a four-minute video walkthough of some of the new features. It's all in Japanese, but you can totally get the gist of it. It demonstrates the camera, and goes into detail with all the crazy things you can do to the photos you take. Morphing, adding graphics, manipulating the colors... it looks like fun. And being Nintendo, they couldn't just enable mp3 playback. Oh, no, they've got to give you the ability to mess with the pitch and tempo of your music. It's kind of useless for songs, but they demonstrate slowing down a voice teaching English, so that might be helpful. I guess. You can also transform your own voice after speaking into the microphone. For whatever good that does you. They also show off the web browser, but it looks pretty much the same, except for being built in. The touch-screen interface looks smooth and clean like the Wii, and generally, the whole product looks amazing. Oh, yeah, and it also plays DS games. Love how that's practically an afterthought to the whole demonstration, what with all the other tricks the DSi has up its sleeve! I want one so bad!

Holy crap.
Any doubts I had are now erased. That photo manipulation is REALLY impressive, especially given the limited hardware. And color pictochat, finally!
I can't wait for homebrewers to take advantage of this, too.

Didn't impress me much. I can't imagine using those features often.
The Opera browser and "Moving Notepad" will have to be bought through the DS Store, they're not "built in".

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for cool new features...
But what the hell? Morphing two faces together? Telling you how similar two faces are? Specifying replay sections for LL-style English learning?
I understand that all the picture crap is part of Japanese Purikura culture, but still, did they just stuff every random feature they could think of in there?
i want it to be able to play video and to be able to chat online with mic or with picto chat and flash on browser
Aww, for a sec at the start I thought it was saying it had a 3.0 MP Camera....
I will probably get one as I never got a Lite (I love my Phat) and DSi Ware will probably be an important feature.
