WoW: Ding, 11 Million

Ding!
Is it any wonder that WoW's ubiquitous leveling-up exclamation applies itself so regularly to the population playing the game itself? Blizzard announced today that it has Dinged the 11 million worldwide subscriber mark; stocks are sinking, real estate is a rotting corpse, but capitalism is alive and well for Blizzard.
Not only that, but with recent expansions into Latin America and Russia, not to mention Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, and just about all of Asia, World of Warcraft more than justifies its position as the top-selling PC game worldwide for three years running (assuming, of course, that Wrath of the Lich king sales do just as well, which will almost certainly be the case).
Blizzard execs went on the record with the standard we-conquered-the-universe congratulations, as is to be expected, but had nary a word to say about the possibility of impending microtransactions (in the form of "paid character customization").

Okay, first Starcraft 2 is now a "trilogy" and now possible Microtransactions?
I'm not one of the parrots that calls Blizzard "evil" just for being successful, but that sort of news makes them hard to defend.
Also, gratz WoW!
