Blizzard Already Talking About New MMO

One thing that I particularly admire about Blizzard is that they're never satisfied with a good thing when they have it. World of Warcraft is already a videogame phenomenon with millions of addicted fans, which would make most developers sit back and watch the money roll in. But Blizzard still pumps out constant patches and updates, and let's not forget flull blown expansions like Wrath of the Lich King.
So naturally, with all of World of Warcraft's success and the recent release of Wrath of the Lich King, what does Blizzard do? They talk about the next great MMO they're already working on, of course. Speaking with Videogaming247, Blizzard COO Paul Sams had some interesting things to say about what was coming next from the house of Blizzard.
We want to create a great game. Something that's cool, and new, and different, and kind of next generation in terms of look and feel and gameplay. That's a challenging endeavour.
Uh oh, now I'm worried. Whenever I hear about a game that has a "next generation look" it always seems to have a color palette consisting of only brown and gray. But Blizzard has recently shown (to the chagrin of some fans) that they are willing to add a more colorful look to Diablo 3, so maybe Blizzard actually understands that "next generation" means good rather than just gritty.
For us, we want to make sure that the gameplay and the experience that the players are going to have is fleshed out quite a bit.The last thing we want to do is say, 'Hey we're doing this,' and everyone says, 'Oh cool,' and then we change things completely. We want to have a level of confidence that the direction we're going in the right one, and that it's polished enough to be able to show something, also. And we're not in either of those places yet.
Basically, Blizzard is going to continue its tradition of showing a game when it's ready and releasing it when it's done, and not a moment earlier. Chances are we won't hear much else about the next Blizzard MMO for a long time. But am I the only one hoping that the next Blizzard MMO is on a console? It would make sense. Blizzard already owns the PC MMO market, so to introduce something that might compete with its own product is just bad business. Also the console market doesn't really have very much in the way of established MMOs so it's a mostly untapped market ripe for growth.
What do you think, is it too early for Blizzard to be talking about their next MMO project? Is it dangerous for Blizzard to release another MMO when they already have such a successful game already out? Or do you wish Blizzard would put all of this MMO business aside for a while and actually finish Starcraft 2 already?
