Netflix: On NXE And Sony...

So you woke up bright and early this morning to get your New Xbox Experience installed so you can shock and awe your friends and family, right? You've created your character, experienced the Creator's Community, and now you want to sit back, relax and watch a movie. What is this? You can't seem to find any Sony licensed films!
Turns out, no Sony content has been authorized for digital download through the Xbox 360. A shame, since that means good flicks like THX-1138 are unavailable. Commenting on the situation, the Netflix Blog made a pretty generic statement about the lack of videos:
Hello. Steve Swasey, here, Catherine Fisher's colleague in Corporate Communications. Following up on Catherine's post, a comment on title availability to watch instantly:As watching instantly becomes a more prominent part of the Netflix service, our goal is to have all of our streaming content licensed for all of our partner devices. We're doing well in this area, but it will take some time before we fully achieve that goal. Today, titles regularly come in and out of license and there is a natural ebb and flow to what we have on license at any given point in time. In the case of Xbox 360, a few hundred titles are temporarily unavailable to be streamed via the Xbox game console. Those titles are still available to be watched on subscribers' computers and on TVs via other partner devices, and we hope they'll be licensed for Xbox 360 shortly.
Word on the street is that they are working to resolve the conflict with Sony as we speak. Is it going to happen? My guess it won't unless the PS3 gets a Netflix system itself.

lol, not surprise really. It was one of those things that contributed to Blurray winning - Sony owns a lot of movies.
It is amazing when I try to consider the amount of money which will get poured into resolving this issue.
At any rate, because I'm a bit of a Sony fanboy, this isn't exactly bad news.
wow thats kinda shitty... way to go sony. now it confims why i will never buy anything thats made by sony.
first they were cocky little shits about their playstation 3 during launch (which was a pretty epic fail at the time with sales) and now they are whining little bitches about netflix being on xbox360.
i mean really... what benefits them from blocking sony studio movies being played on netflix through an xbox. its funny how they will allow microsoft to still sell movies that are made by sony movies on marketplace (at least i still think they do)
One more reason for me to unhook my 360 from the interwebs and keep my precious blades a little while longer.
yes, god forbid Sony not allow the comp to play their movies when they have their own movie service. It's a business, why not whine some more Jayoshi?
Got a problem with it? Watch your netflix sony titles online instead of through the 360, which honestly is a useless feature really.
Of course I have a PS3 so I can load of the netflix site on my hdtv...
oh i'm sorry.. i wasn't whining... just ranting but why don't you get off your fanboy high horse wolverinefactor. everyone i know who has tried netflix on the 360 loves it... so i don't really see how its a useless feature if its used by so many.
I've seen 1/90 people on my list use it so far. I don't see what the big deal is when you can just watch them on the site.
And sorry not a fanboy but thanks for thinking so. I own every console and buy majority of games for the 360.
I for one am thoroughly enjoying the Netflix on my 360. I think people can enjoy it on whatever format it is available on. In the end, does it really matter where you watch it as long as you're enjoying it?
I actually can't view the Netflix streaming on the site because they refuse to enable Mac support, so the 360 is my ONLY option for using the feature at all.
@Shin Gallon:
You can opt-in to the new beta that will let you stream on your mac, look at my article on Homotron for directions:

My apologies, but I just watched THX-1138 a few days back, and I can assure anyone on the fence that its absence from NXE is no great loss.
That said, I do hope that negotiations with Sony net the PS3 some Netflix love.
