New Characters Howling At Castlevania Judgement

If you're looking forward to Wii's upcoming Castlevania fighter, then the announcement of three more characters will only excite you more. If, like me, you are on the fence about the game then these characters will hopefully sway you to make a decision. The trio of characters battling include:
Grant Danasty Grant Danasty used to live as a noble thief (much like Robin Hood) all the while aspiring to become a vampire hunter like Trevor. As the most agile man in Transylvania, Grant Danasty joined forces with Trevor to defeat Dracula. Since overpowering Dracula, Grant Danasty has become a true champion of good, devoting his time to restoring the town to the days before Dracula's rule.Cornell
Cornell, a proud werewolf whose martial arts are said to be invincible, has come to rescue his younger sister Ada, who was kidnapped and taken to Dracula's castle. With the blood of beast-men in his veins, in Castlevania Judgment, Cornell is transformed into a wolf and unable to change back.Sypha
Sypha is a tough, strong-willed witch who uses fire, lightning and ice magic. Affiliated with the church, Sypha hides her true nature by wearing priestly clothes. While Sypha has not yet met Trevor, fate has determined that they will defeat Dracula together and then marry.
This makes the full cast roster as follows:
- Simon Belmont
- Dracula
- Death
- Trevor Belmont
- Alucard
- Eric Lecarde
- Carmilla
- Maria
- Golem
- Shanoa
- Aeon
- Grant Danasty
- Cornell
- Sypha Belnades
This might be as corny as Kansas in August but the addition of Cornell pretty much ups my excitement level for this game. I know the Nintendo 64 Castlevania games were not the most popular, but I loved them and am especially fond of Legacy of Darkness. We've only got a few more week until Castlevania Judgement's November 18th release date in America. So tell me, are you excited about this new genre for the series or is Castlevania making a wrong move into the fighting arena?

Wow, I'm surprised by the 64 character, but I'm still not feeling the art.
I am mostly just surprised to see Iga acknowledge the 64 games again. I thought those were entirely stricken from his cannon: I'm interested to see if he ended up liking this character and will bring him back in the future.
The game is starting to turn into something better, and I appreciate that they're trying something different with the series. Plus, like Smash Bros, I always enjoy a good franchise mix-up. I'll be keeping an eye on this one.
I am somewhat excited... but I don`ßt like a lot of the new designs, like Carmilla or Eric -.-
Who the hell is designing these characters? It is remarkable how few of them look anything like their original concept art. You know what really sucks? This game SHOULD be made, but just like Dissidia, its potential to flop seems awfully high.
Damn it.
Just give us the Super Smash Bros clone that you know we all want.
I was put off by the art at first too, but now I rather like it. I think it's the fact that it's in the same general world as Ayami Kojima's bishi style but manages to branch of into a place all of it's own. I like the over-the-top ornateness. It somehow just seems to fit a Castlevania.
I'm also happy this isn't a Smash clone. I already have an excellent copy of that game. Something different is cool. And from the play tests describing it as Powerstone-like and the nifty videos released, I'm rather looking forward to playing it. I for one hope it turns out well.
I can be Death?
That clinched it, I'm buying this game.
@ TheBizcuit: The guy who`s doing "Death Note" is responsible for the designs this time.
Congratulations on your blog post and his fantastic pictures I liked very much miss on his blog. thank you very much.
Receive a cordial greeting.
I apologize for advertising.
I love the idea of being able to fight abstract concepts in a fighting game. lol just imagine some other characters this could inspire. High Taxes, Apathy, Gentrification....
"While Sypha has not yet met Trevor, fate has determined that they will defeat Dracula together and then marry."
How did they never meet, since they were in Castlevania III together? And how did Sypha spontaneously go from being a man to being a woman?
@SZK: Have you not finished the game with Sypha as your partner? Sypha removes her hood and reveals herself to be a woman.
This does kind of look like fun, though if there is no option to use the gamecube controller in place of the wii mote, then I am out. I do not want to have to swing and jab and whatever they want just to make my character punch, kick or ect.
@Eshto: Actually I had beaten the game many times when I was younger, but apparently never remembered that ending...which I just viewed on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1wRCvWNPoY).
Although, in my defense, it isn't so much a "revelation" as it is a sudden switching of pronouns. Sypha/Syfa is referred to as a "he" in both the game (prior to the ending) and instruction booklet, and then all of a sudden (i.e., her ending) she is correctly referred to as a "she". I guess the removal of her hood was supposed to be a big clue, but I had just assumed it a guy with long hair. :)
Game is playable with GC- and Classiccontroller too
