NXE... An Experience Interrupted
![]()
I don't know about you all, but I've been fighting the urge to install NXE since it was leaked. I know it's wrong, and that I would not be able to play on live until the official launch. I am not a patient person. My inability to wait aside, it turns out that NXE is in no way done changing.
Speaking on the upcoming update, Microsoft's Jerry Johnson flat out stated that NXE is missing features that they wanted to see hit the update. It's not that they can't or won't... it's that they have not yet!
One of the nice things we did was this architectural change to make things more published and driven from the service. All of a sudden we opened up the platform to say 'I don't have to wait until once or twice a year to release something onto the dashboardThere's a Photo Party app that will be part of the platform, The way it will be distributed is all of a sudden you'll see a slot on the dashboard and if you don't have it you click on it and it's going to download from the service onto your application part of the dashboard. Those are the type of things we're going to start doing.
I think we're going to see more social, more content-type apps. I also think from a platform perspective we can continue to do a lot of new things,
I patiently await your updates, Mr. Jerry Johnson. Picture sharing, new features, and more frequent updates on individual components seems more than worth the wait.

Who gives a shit? You should be playing Games on the Xbox, not care about some stupid new User Interface that you'll never use again.
I don't really use this stuff that much either since I don't play online but a lot of people do. Some of it could end up being pretty cool so it's worth checking out, and if you don't want it, just ignore it. Win/win.
I really hope all these add-on things they're talking about aren't mandatory, or that you can delete them ala Wii channels.
