PETA Converts Jaffe, Kratos Wants Iron Supplements
David Jaffe isn't exactly the softest spoken developer around. When not developing a not so mysterious Twsited Metal PS3 game set to be released sometime in 2010, Jaffe gives the world his two cents over at his blog. This week after playing PETA's Cooking Mama: Mama Kills Animals, it appears as if Mr. God of War is ready to go all veg.
I've always been an 'on the edge' Vegetarian. Not a vegan... ...but the meat stuff- since I was a kid- always kind of grossed me out. I DO like the taste of chicken and steak. But the concept of eating something that was very recently walking around is usually too much for me to stomach... ...but after playing this- and watching the movie at the end- fuck it. I'm done. For good this time. And I feel pretty darn good about it. It's not for everyone, but it is for me, that's for sure.
Judging from the heated responses here and other places across the net, I'm a little shocked that we only got one instance of vulgarity out of the famously "direct" Jaffe. From watching all of the Cooking Mama shenanigans, I find it sad that there appears to be very little middle ground. I'm all for the ethical treatment of all animals, but think a group that compares animal slaughter to the Holocaust is lacking a little bit of perspective. While I'm not ready to jump on board the All-Veg Express, I applaud Jaffe making animal conscious choices.

I don't mind him going all veg, but to be influenced by PETA of all things. Hope he knows that they support terroristish groups like ALF and such.

OOOOoooohhh! Well, that's certainly interesting.
I'm the last person to denounce in-your-face activism, but the problem I see is that PETA consistently gets their information wrong. Actually it's even more important to get your facts straight if you're going to be loud and boisterous on purpose to grab headlines. I think the louder you are, the more responsibility should be put on you to know what the hell you're talking about.
Also as you point out, there should be a middle ground. We could all agree on standards for humaneness and protecting the environment, etc.
Groups like PETA harm any moderate groups as it's guilt by association, every intelligent person hates PETA, you have to be daft to support a group that funds terrorists and pays terrorists legal bills.
The problem is, PETA shout so loud with such worthless rhetoric that any good argument for more humane protection of animals is immediately dismissed.
I'm never going to stop eating meat, it's pointless to even try it, as it is with most people, I disagree with their shameless attacks on children also.
It's such a shame these extremists have cut off their noses to make a point nobody gives a toss about, and in that process hurt any kind of moderate approach, which I and everyone is in favour of.

Groups like PETA are what make the moderates seem moderate. Without them the moderates would be the extremists and there would never be any progress.
The best way to help animals is to stop eating them. It's not moderation to suggests otherwise, but greed and cowardice.
Well I'm vegetarian for like 15 years now (vegan some of the time too, but I'm too poor/lazy for full time veganism). I'm neither on a mission, nor some esoteric or otherwise bewildered 'animals == people' kind of guy. But anything that can feel fear, pain, etc. should be at least treated with some respect regarding that emotions.
That aside, PETA sucks. I don't care about "PETA supporting ALF" or whatever... Nor do I care if PETA is "moderate" enough "to please boring mainstream losers" (whatever that means). PETA is just a big lying, manipulating, commercial machine. OK that's not bad per se, it's common. But with things like their holocaust comparison, they proofed that they lost any real concern for change and are just milking the "young, agitated middle class kid" cash cow like everyone else.
