Rumors Of Crystal Chronicle Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated

In a recent issue of EGM, it was hinted at that the Wii exclusive Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers had been quietly cancelled. Those that were looking forward to the release (myself included) were understandably disappointed. Well now it looks as if those rumors were nothing but rumors. According to a report on GoNintendo, SquareEnix released this statement regarding the game:
"While much of EGM's 'Rumor Mill' contents end up being accurate, in this case the report is incorrect. We have never announced that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers has been cancelled and have every intention of releasing it. There may be some concerns as a firm ship date has not been set but rest assured there will be an announcement once we finalize the date internally.
Although there are many Square Enix related rumors out there that we do not comment on, due to the feedback from the readers, we felt it was necessary to provide a statement to alleviate the worries of those who are looking forward to the game. The fan base that the Final Fantasy series has is appreciated by everyone at Square Enix (not only the developers) so we hope this statement will prevent any further spreading of the rumor.
We apologize for any unnecessary distress this rumor may have caused and hope the fans of the series can again look forward to the upcoming release of Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers."
Well I can breathe a sigh of relief now. Though the lack of a firm ship date is a bit worrisome, it isn't really a new move for the folks at SquareEnix. I've been jonesing for a fix from my favorite series, but it looks as if I still have a long wait ahead of me. Which game do you think we'll see first, Crystal Bearers or Final Fantasy XIII?

I am hoping for FF13. The character sprites in the Crystal Chronicle series bother me to the point of distraction so I have never gotten in to the game. I had the same issue with FF9 which is unfortunate because I love the system they created for that game. (and Vivi was so cute) I have no issue Little Big Planet though so my aversion to Bobble-Headed character design is probably limited to RPGs.
But FF13 looks interesting, but I hear a few things through the internet rumor mill that worry me. Like the “dynamic battle system;” I like turn based battles, and no random battles, I like running around in tight circles for hours leveling up my guys. I am totally willing to give it a chance; I can always pause in battle I suppose.
