Stardock CEO Wants Masters Of Orion, Star Control IP
I'm all for the ethical treatment of video games and having witnessed my fair share of video games get a "sequel" that ruins an IP. When I hear that a good game company, say Stardock, wants to revive two of my favorite games of all time, I stand at attention.
Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock, has expressed interest in creating Masters of Orion 4 as well as Star Control 4. What about the 3's? Well, they are going to just pretend they never existed.
If you're making a game that ends with '3,' or Something: The Sequel, it should be similar to the original gameDon't go off and say, 'I have my own artistic vision.' Okay, good -- so call it something else. Don't ride the coattails of the people who came before you to launch your own artistic vision.
Well said. It is worth mentioning that Stardock has no official rights to these IPs and it's really up to the companies holding the titles to give the final yes. My opinion? Gimmie. These series could use a spit shine, and I can't think of a better company to do it.

Wow a new Star control would just be awesome, i remember playing that game for FAR to long as a kid, not to mention master of orion is incredible fun..what thrilling news! : )
Brad Wardell, CEO of Stardock, is an asshole.
I, too, agree that a new Star Control is long over due. This slap at Bethesda was just pompous for the sake of expelling hot air, though.
Master of Orion 3? Whatcha talking about! never existed. NO IT NEVER DID!
Now If the 4th is going to be like the original, count me in for that pre-order!
"I stand at attention". . . that line got my attention.
Watching someone play Masters of Orion is very odd, they don't crack a single smile for the hours the game has them transfixed. And when you look over their shoulder to see what's causing all the fuss, the screen is just black.....space black.
